During the #METOO movement saxophonist Erica von Kleist found her funny bone as a songwriter. Having spent decades of her career as the only woman in countless jazz groups, she found a way to combine her jazz roots with a comedic spin, penning her hilarious, swinging and hard-hitting show “The Swing Resistance”. Featuring her all-star band from NYC, this documentary dives into Erica’s history as a saxophonist and follows the group to red-state Montana where they rehearse and perform for an eager audience. 

Filmed in Whitefish, Montana and generously funded by a Creative Residency Grant from South Arts, “The Swing Resistance” will be available for rent on August 15th here at ericavonkleist.com. Check back for more info on film festivals and screenings in 2026-2027.
